Adding Just a Little More Sparkle

Sissy added a little more sparkle to herself by getting her ears pierced a few weeks ago. She has been asking for them for a LONG time. We kept putting her off, saying, "Wait until your 5 year old shots. If you can handle them, then you can get your ears pierced." For those of you who know Sissy, pain is not something she is fond of and tends to make her shut down. So, we wanted her to wait and feel the pain of 4 shots. Then she could realize what ear piercing might feel like.
Well, that afternoon after getting her shots, she looked at me and said, "Can we go get my ears pierced today?" As much as she wanted to, I couldn't put her through 2 rounds of pain in one day. So, at 10 o'clock the next morning she was at the mall, quickly chose her earrings, and was anxiously awaiting her ear piercing. We did a little prep work with some prescription numbing cream. It worked WONDERFUL! She didn't even flinch.
Now, she has some extra sparkle and loves them!

"No, Momma! I read it!"

I think baby brother may have to be called my "Little Guy" soon. He is growing up so fast these last few months. Tonight is a night when it all sank in to me and I realized, he's not a baby anymore. I immediately had to blog about it before the thoughts left my mind....
I saw the light tonight during his bed time routine. He said, "No, Momma. I read it." And he read me 2 bedtime stories instead of me reading to him. At times, I tried to help him with the words (which he had memorized of course) and he wouldn't let me. "I do it!" he would exclaim. So, I sat back and listened to my little guy read "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" and "Red Hat, Green Hat." Was every word correct? No. It didn't have to be. He felt successful because he was able to retell it based on his knowledge of colors and the pattern of the books. He has reached one of the first steps in the reading process! Yay, Buddy! He has come such a long way! So, so, so proud of my Little Guy!

Our last little miracle...

Here we go again. Just a few more months left as a family of four. We will be welcoming our newest little addition in early June. We are so excited.
The best part about being pregnant is having 2 other kids who love to talk to the baby. The line of communication is straight though the belly button. Apparently that is the prime spot for kissing, talking to, or just looking at the baby.
Baby brother often says, "I see baby" and lifts up my shirt, smiles and them contently puts my shirt back down. Sissy loves to hug and kiss it, too. This little one better be ready for 2 rowdy siblings who will rough it up and love on it probably a little too much.

The first picture of "My 3 Kids!"

5 year pics

She's 5! Our wonderful photographer, Uncle Mat with Blue Bamboo Photography, stopped by for her yearly pictures.
Here she forced herself to wear an outfit Mommy picked out. Of course, it wasn't sparkly or frilly enough, but she cooperated nicely. :) I thought it was such a cute little dress.

....And here's her outfit, lots of pink, sparkly, and fanciness. The last one is her favorite pose. Taking dance class has helped in her posing ability. :)

Of course we couldn't leave baby brother out. I had to get him in a few pictures, too. He's just too stinking cute to pass up.

No this baby isn't mine. :) Baby brother has a few more months to hang onto his baby title. It's their new cousin. Sissy loved holding her. She said that was her favorite part of the pictures. Ahhhh... Pretty soon she'll have more baby than she can handle in our house.

My Little Fishy!

He finally did it! He graduated from the Froggy (Toddler Room) to the Fishy Room. In the past month he gave up the binki and got potty trained all in preparation for the Fishy room.
Wish he would hold back his excitement a little! :)
